Who we are

Stop It does Fontanbleau.

Nope Rope exists to stop perfectly good climbing rope ending up in landfill, turning it into something genuinely useful instead. We collect retired or QC-failed ropes from climbing gyms and manufacturers and upcycle them into non-load-bearing training kits for knot-tying and rope skills practice. Every rope we give a second life to keeps fossil-based nylon out of the waste stream, and gives climbers, coaches and beginners the chance to safely learn real rope craft — no height, no risk, no greenwash. We are proudly part of the circular economy, designing for repair, reuse and responsibility — one rope at a time.

Who benefits?

Climbers. A new rope is about £150. Yeesh.

A Nope Rope costs a fraction of that, plus, you’re not hauling around 30+ meters of rope (though, we wouldn’t blame you for wanting to). Buying a Nope Rope not only keeps material out of land-fill, but you have instant, portable access to the muscle memory you gain from practicing knot-tying with real rope, without the bulk or cost of a new one.

Also, how sad is it to have to just throw away your old rope? All those memories. Why not give it to us? We can make sure it gets responsibly upcycled into something useful. Just drop by one of our partnership gyms and cram your old rope into a handy collection point. We’ll look after it with love.

Normies. ‘You can’t toe-hook a crimp’

Even for those who don’t eagerly obsess over the perfect ‘connies and who couldn’t care less about the legitimacy of a tactical limpet on a costal face, the tons of Co2 kept out of landfill by the sale of Nope Ropes benefits us all (including the limpets).

Our Partners - Love you guys.

The suppliers of retired and QC-failed climbing rope are industry leaders when it comes to responsible material usage and the first to be taking steps away from the linear take-make-waste economy. We work closely to supply our partners with metrics they can use to stay informed about how much they’ve contributed to reducing waste in the industry.
