the story…
We all start somewhere.
When I first began climbing, I wanted a short piece of rope to practise with. Surprisingly, I couldn’t find one anywhere.
I spent the next few weeks asking around and eventually, I begged a worn section off the reluctant front desk at my local gym.
Those weeks of frustration, spent hunting around for a spare bit of rope sparked the idea for Nope Rope.
I wanted to make knot-tying kits easily available for other climbers, crafters or anyone looking to dial in their muscle memory with real rope — and I couldn’t justify using new rope to make the kits when I knew that thousands of metres get thrown away every year after retirement.
So, Nope Rope was born.
We collect retired ropes and upcycle them into non-load-bearing training kits for ground-based knot tying and rope skills practice.
They’re cheaper than buying new rope, far more portable, and they keep fossil fuel-based nylon out of landfill.
Every rope we rescue gives climbers, coaches, and beginners the chance to safely practise real rope craft — while taking a small but meaningful step toward a more responsible industry.
Nope Rope is proudly part of the circular economy — designed for repair, reuse, and responsibility, one rope at a time.
